Celebrate the Holidays with the Lone Star Wind Orchestra and LSWO Youth Winds

Released November 1, 2011

The Lone Star Wind Orchestra (LSWO) invites you to celebrate the holiday season with the Lone Star Wind Orchestra Youth Winds. The LSWO Youth Winds will perform a holiday concert on Sunday, December 4 at 4:30 pm at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Plano, TX.

The concert will include music of John Williams, Morten Lauridsen, and David Maslanka along with seasonal festive selections to get you in the spirit of the holidays. The program will also feature a side-by-side performance with members of the LSWO, allowing the youth winds an opportunity to work with professional musicians.

“Our patrons and musicians have been asking the organization to perform a holiday concert,” Rylon Guidry, artistic administrator for LSWO Youth Winds. “We hope attendees will make us a part of their holiday traditions.”

“We are more than happy to help North Texans get in the holiday spirit,” said Stephanie Braislin, LSWO board chair. “In conjunction to putting on this concert, we will also be collecting gifts for WFAA’s Santa’s Helpers. This year Santa’s Helpers has more than 50,000 needy children registered to receive gifts. Guests are invited, but not required, to bring a new toy to donate.”

General admission is $20; discounts are available for groups, students and senior citizens. Visit www.lonestarwindorchestra.com.

Lone Star Wind Orchestra Kicks off its Sixth Season with a Tribute to Gershwin

September 1, 2011

The Lone Star Wind Orchestra (LSWO) invites you to kick off the sixth season with a tribute to American composer George Gershwin. Music Director Eugene Migliaro Corporon and the LSWO will perform some of Gershwin’s most memorable and recognizable works, which will ensure an entertaining concert experience for any music lover. The concert will be Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Eisemann Center in Richardson, TX.

This jazzed up program will feature Jose Feghali, Gold Medalist of the Seventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, performing Rhapsody in Blue. Gershwin songs include “Summertime,” “I Got Plenty o’ Nuttin’,” “Bess, You Is My Women Now” and “It Ain’t Necessarily So” sung by soprano Jennifer Ciobanu and baritone Christian Bester.

“I am so excited to be performing again with the Lone Star Wind Orchestra,” said Soprano Jennifer Ciobanu. “After the success of last year’s Bernstein concert, I know the upcoming performance will provide the same fantastic experience singing some of American Opera’s most beloved and well-known music. As a singer, it is a privilege to have such a great ensemble to collaborate with, and the music of George Gershwin is such a pleasure to both perform and hear. This concert is not to be missed!”

“We are honored to have Jose Feghali help kick off the season,” said Music Director and Conductor of the Lone Star Wind Orchestra Eugene Migliaro Corporon. “He is exceptionally talented and we are grateful to have him join us for this concert!”

“Over the summer we have worked to put together a fun and exciting season with many talented guest artists,” said Christopher Tucker, LSWO’s director of artistic planning. “We hope the North Texas community will come out and enjoy our performances.”

General admission is $20; discounts are available for groups, students and senior citizens. Visit www.lonestarwindorchestra.com or call 972-744-4650 to purchase your tickets.
