LSWO Audition Items to Consider

LSWO AUDITION PROCESS Review our mission and vision statements and our guiding principles. Requesting an audition represents your acceptance of the aforementioned. The Lone Star Wind Orchestra audition process consists of two rounds. Round One: Complete and submit the short LSWO Audition Online Application Form. (Note: Our audition process does not official begin until May. If you submit your application before May, your application will be accepted. However, you will not receive an official response from us until mid-May.) Then, contact Director of Artistic Planning Christopher Tucker via E-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and attach a one-page resume (PDF) along with a short mp3 of your playing (no more then 3 minutes). Your resume and playing will be reviewed in July by the LSWO Audition Sub-Committee. If you pass round one, you will be contacted. First Round audition materials deadline is Friday, June 28, 2013. Round Two: Upon passing round one, you will be given an audition date and time. Each audition will last 10 minutes. Prepare 4 to 5 minutes of music to play at the audition. Contrasting excerpts from solo or orchestral literature are recommended: a fast and technically demanding excerpt and a slow and lyrical excerpt. Please provide two additional copies of your prepared excerpts for the judges to view during the audition. Do not select repertoire you have not thoroughly prepared. In addition, you may be asked to sight-read several passages and participate in a question and answer session. Please, be on time for your appointment. A room will be provided for you to warm-up before your audition. Final Round auditions are set for [To be determined; usually a Sunday in early-September].
