Mr. Robinson holds the bachelor of music education degree in Instrumental Music from Arkansas State University and the master of music in Wind Band Conducting from the University of Missouri. His teaching experience includes positions in the Wynne and Jonesboro public schools of Arkansas, both recipients of the Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association’s sweepstakes trophy during his tenure. He has been active as a guest clinician for bands throughout both Arkansas and Missouri and has served as director of the Arkansas State University Drum Major Camp, where he taught conducting, marching fundamentals and leadership training. Mr. Robinson is also active as a composer, arranger and performer. His saxophone quartet, Fantasy on St. James, was premiered at the 2005 American School Band Directors Association's national convention by the Marion (AR) High School Saxophone Quartet. More recently, Mr. Robinson was a member of the University of Missouri's Contreras Saxophone Quartet, national finalists in the 2008 Music Teachers National Association’s chamber music competition. Mr. Robinson is a contributing author in the Teaching Music Through Performance in Band series. His professional memberships include the College Band Directors National Association, Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society and an honorary membership in Kappa Kappa Psi National Band Fraternity.

Assistant Conductors

David D. Robinson (Fall 2009-present) serves as assistant conductor of the Lone Star Wind Orchestra. He is a Doctoral Conducting Associate at the University of North Texas, where he assists with all aspects of the Wind Studies area. He is a conducting student of Eugene Migliaro Corporon, and a past conducting student of Thomas J. O'Neal.
Robert Schwartz (Fall 2009-present) serves as assistant conductor of the Lone Star Wind Orchestra. He is a conducting student of Eugene Migliaro Corporon and a Masters Conducting Associate in the Wind Studies area at the University of North Texas. At UNT, he assists with all aspects of the Wind Studies area. Prior to his arrival at UNT, Mr. Schwartz served as a director in the Center Area School District in Pennsylvania on both the middle and high school levels. He holds the bachelor of music degree in music education from Duquesne University. While at Duquesne University, Mr. Schwartz served as guest conductor for university bands, as well as served as director of the Beaver “Bop Cat” Alumni Band. His former teachers include Dr. Robert Cameron and Donald McKinney. Mr. Schwartz is one of the research assistants in the seventh volume of the GIA series Teaching Music Through Performance in Band.
